The Boss
3rdgenchef.com believes in great food, spending time with family, and God. I’m Jay McAfee, the Chef. My father, Chef Jamie McAfee, developed my love of food when I was working in the kitchen as a child. My grandfather, James Edwin “Mac” McAfee, born September 28, 1930, was also a Chef. Food is a part of our every day life and we want to share our experience with you.
I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Sports Administration at Southern Mississippi University in Hattiesburg. (“SOU-THERN! Southern Mississippi! USM!” is a chant often heard at our house.) I started out working in the kitchen at the Delta Country Club in McGehee, Arkansas. This is where I developed my expertise and love of food. How else does one learn the elements of food? Growing up in a restaurant, of course!
Jamie McAfee is an award-winning Chef that has instilled in me an excellent work ethic, the ability to support my family, and the importance of doing something you love. After I graduated college in 2003, my dad (Jamie) and my mom (Laurie)moved to Pine Bluff from McGehee to run the country club. Since then, I have worked both full-time and part-time helping out with big events, solely doing the food ordering, and cooking on the line when needed (so 2ndgen Chef can have a day off).
Why?
We eat. A lot. We wanted to document all of our foodness and share it with you guys.
