Budget-friendly Biscuits

Baffling biscuits? No. Buxom biscuits? Definitely no. Banal biscuits….no. Backrow Baptist Biscuits? No, it leaves whole religions out….So after going back and forth with Valerie on a title for this post, we decided that Budget-friendly Biscuits would be the best.

Today we will be sharing how to make biscuits from scratch that won’t break the bank. We use mostly organic items, but don’t feel pressured to buy organic. Our daughter was diagnosed with stage 3 Hodgkins Lymphoma when she was 15 years old and we are trying to do everything in our power to keep healthy (except for the fact that we love food). She’s healed, PRAISE GOD! And that is why we started eating organic.

Down to the good stuff. Here’s how to make biscuits.

Step 1

Gather ingredients. You will need all purpose flour, baking soda, sea salt, baking powder, buttermilk, EVOO, and crisco shortening. (Yes, we know what you’re thinking. Shortening?!?!? Yes. Shortening….like I SAID, we love food…moving on.)

Step 2

Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Add 4 cups of flour to a bowl.

Step 3

Add 1 cup shortening. Calm down….it’s going to be ok. All that Match green tea you’re drinking and cardio you’re doing? You’ll unclog your arteries in no time.   Keep in mind this is not something you want to eat all the time. It’s good for big family events and special holidays when gaining weight is A-OK (Thanksgiving, Christmas…)
